For many students, fun pastimes include sports, phones, and hanging out with friends on the weekends, but one sophomore’s pastime isn’t any of those. Megan Corcoran, a junior at KHS, goes caving at different locations when she has time – rappelling, climbing, exploring, and crawling through caves for high adventure fun.

The wall outside English teacher Charlene Warnock’s classroom is a tribute to veterans of the U.S. military. Warnock’s Wall of Honor is full of long letters and battle photos. There are many different scenes from battle, military funerals, and family pictures. It is full of red, white, and blue coloring.

An emcee is a speaker or master of ceremonies like parties, birthdays, or, in this case, pep rallies. Being an emcee can be very challenging. Being in front of hundreds of kids, and having to get them pumped up can be tough. But in the end when the team wins it’s all worth it. Emcee David James is at almost all the KHS pep rallies, and can relate to these scenarios.

The KHS band is working hard this year to get to state, and this year’s show has been difficult for some freshman to learn in such a short amount of time. Memorizing the music, drill, counts, and much more was hard to handle, and leadership helped many people by staying after practice, holding sectionals, and taking time out of their day to help everyone that needed it.

The KHS marching band has been working overtime this year with major goals in mind. Since the end of July, directors and band leadership have been pushing incoming freshman harder than they ever have in their first year of marching. Why would they push first time marchers so much? Everyone in the entire program, including underclassmen, have a goal to make it to the marching band competition in San Antonio this year.
