The KHS Robotics team is heading to regionals on Feb. 26 at the UT Arlington Maverick Activity Center. This will be Kaufman’s second time participating in this tournament.

The Kaufman Roaring Lion Band recently participated in the ATSSB Region 3 auditions, For these auditions, band students from small schools around the area are required to learn a piece of music on their own and audition to qualify for symphonic band or the concert band. This year was a great year for the band with 35 of the 78 musicians advancing to concert and symphonic.

About three weeks ago just around midnight, a few friends had been working on a new trick and after four hours of trying and trying they landed it. Although, one of them broke their skateboard and was rushed to the hospital that’s when they knew they loved to skate.

The sun isn’t even up yet, and Kaylee Rodriguez is hard at work in the barn. In the next hour, Rodriguez will make sure her 978-pound steer named Diesel is fed by carrying a 50 pound bag of feed to his bucket. While she’s doing that, she already has a hose in the water trough. Later that evening, she heads back out and does it all again. On the weekends, this KHS sophomore is in the barn most of the day washing and blow drying Diesel’s hair, getting it just right.
