Kaufman hosted this year’s Special Olympics recently. This annual event included many schools such as Athens Hornets (first year), Canton Eagles, Crandall Pirates, Mabank Panthers and many more. Twenty-one students from Kaufman participated, winning 10 gold medals, seven silver and four bronze.

“It’s not about if they win or lose,” says Cheri Whitlock, KHS life skillDSC_1450s teacher, “it’s all ab
out them trying their best.”

Some events included the turbo jab, the 100 meter dash, the 50 meter dash, 25 meter walk, and a few more. “The experience of Special Olympics is life changing if you allow it to be.” adds Whitlock.
