There have been some interesting crimes in the Kaufman-Forney area recently. Although many have been related to theft and burglary, there has been one incident that stands out the most.

Kaufman County Sheriffs Department got a call about someone abusing their son Feb. 9.

Police said Christi Howell and her boyfriend Casey Shackleford held the 13-year old boy down, placed a towel over his face and poured water over it – essentially waterboarding the boy.

A Kaufman County investigator said Howell is a relative of the boy and that she admitted she poured water over him, but said it was Shackleford’s idea.

Another crime that happened in Kaufman involved stealing from Wal-Mart. According to the Kaufman Police Department, on Feb. 19 at  4 p.m., a male suspect entered the store in Kaufman and stole a 55-inch Samsung LED television.

The man was seen fleeing the scene in a dark blue, older model Ford Ranger pickup truck, driven by a female driver.

“The male suspect has a distinctive tattoo on the right side of his neck,”  the Kaufman Police Department said.

The Kaufman Police Department is also seeking the public’s assistance in a credit card/debit card abuse investigation after a stolen credit card was used at the Wal-Mart to purchase several items.

According to Kaufman Police Department Detective J. Stastny on Jan. 16 two people used a stolen credit card at the Wal-Mart in Kaufman and other department stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
