The Lions (6-1, 3-0) played their second district game last Friday against Crandall (2-4,0-2)  and came away with a 29-14 victory. The win marked the 11straight victory for the Lions over their rivals.

Many thought it would be a tight game but senior defensive back Jacob Nalls quickly broke the tight ball game up in the second quarter with an interception and 40-yard return to the end zone making the score 22-7 at the end of the first half.

Junior running back Jay Gasper led the game in rushing yards (111) while his brother Cecil Gasper led the game in receiving yards (49).

The Lions offensive line dominated in the trenches which allowed the run game to be more effective.

Last Friday, the Lions traveled to Athens to battle the Hornets (2-5,1-2) in week three of district play and escaped with a 23-20 win.

Neither offenses gained much ground in the first half, which resulted in multiple three and outs from each team.

Lions quarterback Trey Collier scored twice on quarterback-designed running plays.

“It was my offensive line doing what they had to do to open lanes for me to run through,” said Collier.

Running back Jay Gasper did outstanding on the ground with multiple first downs.

This Friday the Lions have a homecoming game against the Brownsboro Bears (4-2,1-1) as they plan to go 4-0 district.
