On Houston Street houses are decorated with lights, tombstones, and even small haunted houses. There are blocked off streets, cars lined up down the street, kids running around, and police observing the scene. It’s another Halloween on Houston Street and trick or treaters are enjoying the night.

Every year on Halloween night parents take their kids trick or treating on Houston street to get candy and have fun. The events have become a Kaufman tradition.

Houston Street Halloween is a popular event for kids to go trick or treating, and a safe place for kids to have fun. The area is home to many of the city’s grand historical homes, some of which still have the pre-Civil War wrought iron fencing.

Some people spend over $100 every year on candy, according to senior Katie Good, who lives in the area. Many in the community come together for a night of fun. Those in the area will see mini haunted houses, children dressed up, and many decorated houses.

Sophomore Sadie Benge said: “It’s a fun event, I get to spend time with my friends and family and also get a bunch of candy.”
